Duration: 1 week 2 months
Admission requirements: Students and professionals who have accepted the teaching courses of TCM in both the basic theories and clinical practice.
Objective: Through 1 week to 2-month study of special and advanced topics and clinical practice, the students will be able to have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the basic theories of TCM, and will achieve a high level of skills for diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders with acupuncture and related therapies.
Arrangement of class hours: 4 hours for clinical practice in the morning (five half days a week), 3 classroom hours for special and advanced topics in the afternoon (3 half days a week). See Table for major topics and their main contents.

Nature of acupuncture and its indications
Nature of acupuncture and moxibustion; main indications of acupuncture: pain conditions, inflammatory conditions, functional imbalances, nervous and psychological problems.
Meridian theory and its applications
Contents of the fourteen meridians; application of the meridian theory in practice, inc. diagnosis, pattern identification, and selection of acupoints.
Application of Root and Tip (biao/ben) theory of the meridians
Concept of Root and Tip of the meridians; application of Root and Tip concept in acupuncture practice, inc. diagnosis, pattern identification, and selection of acupoints.
Muscular Regions
Distribution and disorders of the twelve muscular regions.
Prof. Yang Jiasan’s experience on acupoint location

Acute and chronic gastritis, pelpic ulcers, gastric spasm, nervous vomiting, anorexia, irritable bowel syndrome, habitual constipation, diarrhoea.
Gynecological diseases
dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, premenstrual syndrome, menopausal syndrome, erectic fetus.
Skin diseases
Urticaria, eczema, herpes zoster, neurodermatitis, pruritus.
Neurogenic and psychological disorders
Insomnia, depression, mania, epilepsy.
Urogenital problems
